AprènCatAprènCat is a service for learning Catalan and preparing for the A1 to B2 level exams. It works on the web, on iPhone/iPad and on Android, with the same account.
AprènCat certificates show that you have completed a course according to our internal assessment. They are not official qualifications and do not replace the official Catalan exams.
Terms of use
Minimum age
You must be 16 years of age or older to create an account.
Your account
- You can sign up with an email address and password, with Google, or with Apple (on iPhone/iPad).
- Your account is personal: do not share it. You are responsible for keeping your password safe.
- In the Android app you can only sign in with an account you already have.
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account, or by writing to hola@aprencat.com.
Free trial
When you sign up, you get free access to the trial course (the first unit of A1), without providing any card details. When you want to use content that is not included in the trial, you will see the screen for choosing a plan. You only pay if you decide to make a purchase.
AI tutor
- The plans include 15 minutes a day of conversation with the AI tutor.
- The tutor and the automatic corrections use artificial intelligence and may make mistakes. They are a learning aid and do not replace a teacher.
Community and meet-ups
If you sign up for a meet-up, the person organising it will see the name and phone number you give us when registering.
Acceptable use
You may not copy or resell the content, use another person's account, attempt to access parts of the service you are not entitled to, or use the tutor for purposes unrelated to learning.
Content
Much of the content on AprènCat (explanations, exercises, scripts and adaptations) has been created by us. Other content comes from third parties or is based on third-party materials, which belong to their authors and are credited on the “Sources and bibliography” page:
- Sample exams and preparation materials from the Govern d'Andorra and the Institut Ramon Llull. Texts from the Institut Ramon Llull are used under their Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) licence, and the exercises we adapt from them are shared under the same licence.
- Textbooks and reference works for learning Catalan.
- Audio, video and texts from media outlets and organisations, such as 3Cat.
- The events calendar, which gathers public information from Andorran websites.
- Images and comics created with artificial intelligence tools.
You may use the content only for your personal learning. You may not copy, publish, sell or share it with other people.
If you own any material and believe we are not using it properly, please write to us at hola@aprencat.com and we will review it or remove it.
Changes and governing law
We may improve or change the course content. If we make significant changes to these terms, we will notify you in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of the Principality of Andorra.
Privacy
What data we process and why
- Account: email address, name (if you provide it), language, level and preferences. To create and maintain your account.
- Learning: your answers, progress, mistakes, written work and conversations with the tutor. To correct your work, save your progress and adapt the course.
- Voice: when you speak in an oral exercise, the speech recognition on your device or browser converts what you say into text, and only that text reaches AprènCat. We do not store recordings of your voice. Speech recognition is performed by your device's system (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android or Chrome).
- Purchases: which plan you have, until when, and the payment identifier. We do not see or store your card.
- Meet-ups: name and phone number, only if you register.
- Minimal technical data needed for the service to work and to detect errors.
We process this data to provide the service you request (contract) and, in the case of meet-ups, with your consent. We do not sell your data. We will only email you AprènCat news and offers if you agree when you sign up, and you can unsubscribe at any time from the email itself or by writing to hola@aprencat.com.

Some of these providers are located outside Andorra (for example, in the United States). We only work with providers that offer appropriate safeguards to protect your data.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an active plan and for 12 months after it ends, so that you can get everything back if you return. After that period without a plan, or as soon as you delete your account, we erase your learning data, except for data we are legally required to keep (for example, billing data).
Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We only store on your browser or device what is necessary to keep you signed in.
Minors
AprènCat is not intended for people under the age of 16. If we detect an account belonging to a person under 16, we will delete it.
Your rights
You can request access to, rectification, erasure or portability of your data, and object to or restrict its use, by writing to hola@aprencat.com. If you disagree with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Agència Andorrana de Protecció de Dades (APDA) (Andorran Data Protection Agency).
